Hinsdale Sees Slight Drop In New Virus Cases: Agencies

HINSDALE, IL — For the second week in a row, both Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills saw drops in new coronavirus cases, according to county agencies.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,751 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, up by 17 in the last week. The week before last, the village experienced 18 new cases.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total at 61 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 13.

Here is the growth in coronavirus case numbers in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills:

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 99 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 88 in Darien, 95 in La Grange Park, 99 in DuPage Count, 103 in Elmhurst, 109 in Western Springs, 109 in Clarendon Hills and suburban Cook County, 112 in Burr Ridge and 128 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,538,324, up 2 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 24,067.

Nationally, 39.8 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 2.9 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 634,858 people have died from the virus in the United States.
