Hinsdale Sees Slight Hike In Virus Rate: Agencies

HINSDALE, IL — In the last week, Hinsdale saw 15 new coronavirus cases, a slight increase from the previous week, according to county agencies. It's the largest increase in more than three months.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,687 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, while Clarendon Hills, which experienced an increase of 11 new cases in the last week, had 917.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total at 61 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 13.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 95.7 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 85 in Darien, 91.4 in La Grange Park, 95 in DuPage County, 98.1 in Elmhurst, 102.9 in Western Springs, 104.8 in Clarendon Hills, 105.3 in suburban Cook County, 108.7 in Burr Ridge and 124.4 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,457,667, up 1.4 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,594.

Nationally, 36.4 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 2.1 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 617,787 people have died from the virus in the United States.
