Hinsdale Shopper Sees Her Purse Stolen: Police

Woman later reports fraudulent charges on her credit cards at stores in Homewood.

HINSDALE, IL — Purses are sometimes stolen in stores when shoppers' attention is elsewhere. By contrast, a Hinsdale customer last week witnessed such a theft when she was in a store's deli, police said. The incident happened about 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Whole Foods, 500 E. Ogden Ave.

According to a police report, a woman said she saw two people run away from her cart when her purse was taken. The purse was valued at $300 and contained a change purse valued at $150, $20 in cash, a key chain valued at $80, car keys, a driver's license and other items, police said. The victim later told police she had fraudulent charges on her credit cards at stores in Homewood.

One of the suspects was described as a black man, about 50 to 60 years old with light grayish hair and wearing a dark shirt. The other was described as a black woman about the same age and wearing a light blue shirt and a glittery, bedazzled face mask.
