Hinsdale South Music Department Receives Support from Darien VFW for Disney Performance

Veterans' organization provides scholarships to help student musicians represent the Darien community on a national stage.

The Hinsdale South High School Music Department will travel to Walt Disney World at the end of February, thanks in part to generous scholarship support from Darien VFW Post 2838.

The local veterans organization recently donated funds to help music students offset travel expenses for the highly anticipated performance opportunity. The partnership reflects a long-standing relationship between the Hinsdale South bands and the Darien VFW, as student musicians regularly perform at the community’s Memorial Day and Labor Day services.

“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of Darien VFW 2838,” Band Director Matt Goeke said. “Our students take great pride in honoring our veterans through music, and this partnership reminds them that service and community matter.”
