HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale has gone without a permanent community development director since the beginning of the year.

Rob McGinnis held the job for 16 years before retiring. An interim director, Bill Heniff, took his spot, but left about a week ago.

Now, Ellen Weber, who has served in temporary community development positions throughout the suburbs, is Hinsdale's interim director.

Hinsdale plans to hire a recruiting firm, MGT Impact Solutions, for $22,000 to find a permanent director. The goal is to fill it within three months.

"It's a challenging market right now all across the sectors in municipal government at the department head level," Village Manager Kathleen Gargano told the Village Board on Tuesday.

She said the village is hoping to find someone much quicker than three months.

As for MGT, she said, "They really do have the market at least in Illinois and then they have the national relationships."

The community development department is in charge of administering and enforcing the village's zoning regulations, building codes and safety requirements.
