Hinsdale Virus Cases Rise By 13% In Last Week: Health Agencies
The number of deaths remains the same in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills.
HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills are seeing larger-than-usual increases in the numbers of coronavirus cases. But nearby towns and the state as a whole are experiencing even higher percentage hikes.
As of Sunday, Hinsdale had seen 601 coronavirus cases since the pandemic's beginning, up 13 percent, or 67 cases, from a week earlier, according to county health authorities.
Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills hit the 300-mark Sunday, up 16 percent, or 41 cases, from a week earlier.

Hinsdale's weekly rate increase compares to nearly 18 percent statewide, 24 percent in Darien and Western Springs, and 26 percent in La Grange.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale's and Clarendon Hills' number of coronavirus-related deaths remained at 42 and 2, respectively. The figures have remained the same for weeks. Hinsdale's number is driven by a coronavirus outbreak at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home earlier in the crisis.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 34.1 coronavirus cases per thousand people. The figure compares to 27.1 in La Grange Park, 30.2 in Darien, 32.2 in Western Springs, 34.3 in Clarendon Hills, 35.7 in Elmhurst, 36.1 in DuPage County, 41.2 in suburban Cook County, 41.9 in Burr Ridge and 43.5 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 573,6156, up 17.5 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 10,742 state residents.
Nationally, 10.8 million people have caught the virus, up 11 percent from the week before. A total of 244,810 people have died from the virus in the United States.
