
HINSDALE, IL — The new Hinsdale chief of police has been sworn in. Brian King started his law enforcement career in Hinsdale, serving as a Community Service Officer, according to a post on Hinsdale Police Department's Facebook page. King has now returned to Hinsdale with 30 years of experience under his belt.
“I am very pleased to have Brian as our new Police Chief,” Village President Tom Cauley said in a release. “He is greatly respected in his department and in the Illinois law enforcement community."
According to a release, King is a 30-year veteran of the Village of Wilmette Police Department, starting in
1987 as a patrol officer. King worked his way through the ranks serving as a detective, police sergeant, detective sergeant and police commander. For the past 16 years King has served in executive management positions in Wilmette as the Deputy Chief for eight years prior to his current role as Chief of Police which he has served for the past eight years.

According to a release, King has a Master’s Degree in Management from National Louis University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Xavier University, Ohio, and is a graduate of the Northwestern University Staff and Command. He was also certified as an Assessor for the Commission on Accreditation.
“I am both humbled and honored to have been chosen for the position of Police Chief,” King said in a release. The Hinsdale Police Department is a proud organization with a reputation for progressive and responsive law enforcement. I enthusiastically embrace the challenge to lead the organization and I am grateful for opportunity.”
