Hinsdale Woman Arrested On Warrant: Cops

In another incident, a woman's wallet was stolen in a Hinsdale store, police said.

HINSDALE, IL — In the last few days, Hinsdale police have handled cases involving an arrest warrant, the theft of a wallet, a driver who left the scene of a crash, a DUI and retail theft. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:

Arrest warrant

  • Amirabella Skaria, 19, of Hinsdale, was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Sunday at Ogden Avenue and Interstate 294 on a DuPage County warrant. She was also charged with driving with a suspended license, speeding and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released and given a date to appear in court.

  • A wallet was stolen from a woman's purse between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday at Whole Foods Market, 500 E. Ogden Ave. She said someone later made fraudulent purchases using her credit cards inside her wallet. The case is pending.

Leaving scene of crash

  • Adelmar Huerta-Avila, 25, of Cicero, was cited about 4:30 pm. Feb. 1 at Ogden Avenue and Washington Street on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to report an accident to police. According to a police report, Huerta-Avila drove away after another driver called police. Huerta-Avila was released and given a date to appear in court.

DUI

  • Chestine Gajos, 60, of Naperville, was arrested about 1 a.m. Saturday at Ogden Avenue and Washington Street on charges of DUI and improper lane usage. Gajos failed to turn in a breath sample to determine blood-alcohol content. Gajos was released and given a date to appear in court.

Retail theft

  • A person stole a carton of cigarettes valued at $100 and left in a dark SUV about 4 p.m. Saturday at Hinsdale Food Mart, 5827 S. Madison St. The case is pending.

Identity theft

  • A resident in the 800 block of South Oak Street told police Sunday that someone attempted to make a purchase of more than $2,000 at a store using the resident's information.

Driving violations

  • Eli Lopez, 21, of Melrose Park, was cited about 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Route 83 and Ogden Avenue on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and expired registration. Lopez was released and given a date to appear in court.
