Hinsdale's 'Epitome Of Luxury'?

HINSDALE, IL – A survey resulted in a list of America's 175 top "aspirational" streets, one of which is in Hinsdale.

"These destinations are the epitome of luxury, representing the highest ideals of prestige and privilege," Agent Advice, which conducted the survey, said in a news release Thursday. "These are the streets where daydreams are set and where a mailbox can signify one has truly 'arrived.'"

So where is this "epitome of luxury" in Hinsdale?

According to Agent Advice, it's East Ogden Avenue. It finished 124th, with 3,000 real estate professionals surveyed, the firm said.

To be sure, Hinsdale has its share of streets with mansions. But Ogden is not one of them.

Rather, Ogden is a four-lane road that connects the western suburbs. The eastern part of Ogden in Hinsdale is made up of businesses and the fenced backyards of houses.

But Agent Advice described a different Ogden: "Highly sought-after E Ogden Avenue features high-end homes in one of the wealthiest western suburbs of Chicago, with a charming downtown area."

Just one house is on East Ogden, and it's not high-end.

Illinois' other top finishers are Astor Street in Chicago, North Green Bay Road in Lake Forest, Forest Hill Road in Lake Bluff and Flint Creek Drive in Barrington. All are in areas with mansions that represent what Agent Advice would call "prestige and privilege."

According to the survey, America's top aspirational street is Nokomis, Florida's Casey Key Road, with its ocean views and palm trees.

Agent Advice said the aspirational streets are where real estate agents want to sell.

"(T)hese exclusive streets represent the pinnacle of their profession," the news release said. "Selling a property on one of these elite roads is a mark of success and expertise."

In an email to Patch, Agent Advice spokeswoman Ashley Starmer said the survey was of real estate professionals, but she did not answer how a street like East Ogden could make the list.
