Hinsdale's Virus Rate Hike Relatively Low

Clarendon Hills and Hinsdale both see rate hikes lower than state's.

HINSDALE, IL — While the state saw a 12 percent increase in coronavirus cases over the last week, Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills experienced considerably lower rate hikes — 4 percent and 7 percent, respectively.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 476 virus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 20 from a week before, according to county health authorities. In Clarendon Hills, the number of cases was 219, up 15 from the previous week.

No figures are available on those cases in which people are considered recovered.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale's coronavirus-related deaths numbered 42, while Clarendon Hills has suffered two virus-related deaths, according to government numbers. The figures have remained the same for weeks.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 27 coronavirus cases per thousand people. The figure compares to 19.5 in La Grange Park, 20.7 in Darien, 22.2 in Western Springs, 25 in Clarendon Hills, 26 in DuPage County, 26.4 in Elmhurst, 29.1 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands), 31 in suburban Cook County and 31.8 in Burr Ridge.

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 417,280, up 12 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 9,792 state residents.

Nationally, 9.1 million people have caught the virus, up 6 percent from the week before. A total of 229,932 people have died from the virus in the United States.
