Hit-And-Run Victim Pursues Suspect: Hinsdale Cops
A man was charged after his victim blocked him in a cul-de-sac, report says.
HINSDALE, IL — In recent days, Hinsdale police have handled cases involving a nursing home theft, a hit-and-run victim pursuing the suspect and a DUI, among others. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:
- Mateo Luis Ayala, 18, of Addison, was cited about 10 a.m. Thursday on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and improper lane use. Ayala sideswiped another car near Ogden Avenue and Oak Street and sped away. The victim followed Ayala and blocked him in a cul-de-sac in the 700 block of Franklin Street. Ayala was released and given a date to appear in court.
- A hit-and-run accident took place about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at 55th Street and Garfield Avenue. A woman crashed her car into a man's. The victim described the woman as white, in her 40s, having blond hair and driving a white sedan with front-end damage.
- A resident of ManorCare Hinsdale, 600 W. Ogden Ave., told police her phone was stolen from her nightstand between midnight and 8:30 a.m. Feb. 1. The theft was reported a day later.
- Andrew J. Hietpas, 27, of Brookfield, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of East Ogden Avenue on charges of DUI, speeding and improper lane use. Hietpas refused testing to determine his blood-alcohol content. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Roberto J. Vasquez, 45, of Chicago, was cited about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of East 55th Street on charges of failure to give information to owner after striking unattended property and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
