How Coronavirus Has Impacted District 86

Numbers of COVID-19 cases and those in quarantine are released for District 86.

HINSDALE, IL — Since the beginning of this school year, Hinsdale High School District 86 has seen 14 positive cases of the coronavirus among students, according to the district's website. No staff cases have been reported. As of Friday, the number of students currently still infected with the virus was four.

Also as of Friday, 49 students, staff and faculty were in isolation or quarantine, according to the district's online information.

This is all before any general education students have attended school in person, which is set to start Monday. Some, though, have been taking part in extra-curricular activities.

In Elmhurst School District 205, which is twice the size of District 86, 23 students, staff and faculty have tested positive for the coronavirus since the start of the school year. Last week, District 205 reported that 356 students and 93 employees have been in quarantine so far this school year. Unlike District 205, District 86 doesn't give cumulative numbers on its website for those in quarantine and isolation, only the current figures.

As of late last week, no faculty or staff had been diagnosed with COVID-19, said Mary Dudek, the district's interim human resources director.
