ID Theft, Aggravated Speeding: Hinsdale Cops

Man is arrested on a charge of identity theft in attempting withdrawal from bank, report says.

HINSDALE, IL — In recent days, Hinsdale police received calls about car burglaries and vandalism and charged people with crimes such as identity theft and aggravated speeding. Here is information from the reports:

Burglaries

  • An unlocked car in the 200 block of East Third Street was burglarized overnight Aug. 24. Stolen was a wallet containing $160, checks and debit and credit cards. The suspect attempted to cash a $12,200 check on Aug. 24. The burglary was reported Aug. 28.
  • An unlocked car in the 300 block of East Third Street was burglarized about 2 a.m. Aug. 25. The suspects were seen on a surveillance camera. A garage door opener was stolen.

  • Antoine J. Stanford, 32, of Chicago, was arrested Aug. 22 on a felony charge of identity theft. According to a police report, Stanford attempted to access a victim's bank account and make a withdrawal from a Chicago bank. An arrest warrant for Stanford was issued May 1 and served Aug. 22. Stanford was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Damage

  • Someone spilled a paint and cement combination between 8 p.m. Aug. 22 and 2 p.m. Aug. 23 in the 5800 block of South Washington Street. The damage was reported Aug. 25.
  • A back window of a car was broken between 7 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Aug. 26 in the parking lot at Hinsdale Animal Hospital, 724 N. York Road. Nothing was reported missing.

  • Lucas J. Hill, 39, of Brookfield was cited shortly after midnight Aug. 30 in the 400 block of East Ogden Avenue on a charge of aggravated speeding. According to a police report, he was going 102 mph in a 35-mph zone. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • Police tried to stop a driver for an equipment violation about 2 a.m. Aug. 30 near Ogden Avenue and Route 83, but the driver sped off.
  • Raul Perez Garcia, 50, of Chicago, was cited about 2:30 p.m. Aug. 31 near Route 83 and 55th Street on charges of failing to give information after striking unattended property and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. According to a police report, Garcia struck a traffic sign and then ran away. Officers found Garcia on foot north of the crash on Route 83. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
