The Impact Of Oasis Closure On Hinsdale
The village has seen a loss of income as a result of the closure.

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale officials did not have a hard number on how much sales tax income the village has lost as a result of the Hinsdale Oasis' closure in fall 2021.
One official suggested it was about $300,000.
The issue came up during the Village Board's budget meeting Thursday.

During the presentation, village trustees were told that some of the loss was offset by the increase in tax income from Grubhub, Uber Eats and DoorDash.
The Oasis restaurants were eliminated as part of the reconstruction of Interstate 294. Gas stations that were part of the Oasis remain on both sides of the expressway.

"That $300,000 is not coming back from what I understand," Trustee Scott Banke said.
Village Manager Kathleen Gargano said the plan was to regain the income through the redevelopment of the property.
"We're currently in conversations with the Tollway to identify an acceptable development concept," Gargano said. "The goal would be to replace the lost revenue and, in a perfect world, build on it."
