Institute Building Broken Into In Hinsdale: Cops

It was the headquarters of a religious group that was the subject of an Amazon documentary.

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale police released their latest blotter Wednesday. Here is information from the latest reports:

Burglary

  • Someone entered the Institute in Basic Life Principles building, 707 W. Ogden Ave., and rummaged through the property between June 17 and Aug. 13. Nothing was reported stolen. The building was once the headquarters of a religious group that was the subject last year of an Amazon documentary, "Shiny Happy People."

Fraud

  • A resident in the 500 block of Morris Lane told police that someone accessed the resident's cryptocurrency account and made fraudulent transactions. The case is pending.

DUI

  • A 42-year-old Hinsdale man who lives in the 600 block of South Madison Street was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Monday in the 5900 block of South County Line Road on charges of DUI and improper lane use. He submitted to testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A 32-year-old Worth man was arrested about 1 a.m. Saturday at Ogden Avenue and Elm Street on charges of DUI, transportation or possession of open alcohol by a driver, and speeding. He refused testing to determine his blood-alcohol content. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • A 24-year-old Cary man was arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday at Route 83 and Burlington Avenue on charges of DUI and speeding. He submitted to testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
