Issues With District 86 Administrator?

The school board is set to meet behind closed doors and then vote on an administrator's resignation.

HINSDALE, IL — The Hinsdale High School District 86 board is meeting Thursday to discuss an administrator behind closed doors. Afterward, the board is set to vote on accepting the administrator's resignation.

The board's agenda for the special meeting does not name the administrator. In school districts, administrators and teachers usually give more notice for a resignation. Their typical ending dates are July 1, the start of a new budget year.

The school board's agenda includes only the closed meeting and the vote on accepting the resignation. Given that the board is meeting behind closed doors beforehand, it appears members may have issues with the official in question.

The last major District 86 personnel change was in January. That was when the school board voted unanimously to dismiss Carol Baker, assistant superintendent of academics, effective June 30. Board members did not give a reason for their decision.

A month before, Superintendent Tammy Prentiss apologized to the public for the administrative team's "ineffective job" in communicating changes to the district's science program. That was just a few months after she was promoted as superintendent, moving up from assistant superintendent of student services. Baker was already in place when Prentiss took the helm.
