Jail Scam, Apartment Damage: Hinsdale Cops

Woman is told to send $5,000 to get her son out of a lockup, police say.

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale police released their latest blotter Wednesday. Here is information from the reports:

Jail scam

  • A resident in the 10 block of West Chicago Avenue told police that someone called her claiming to be her son and said he needed $5,000 for a jail bond. The resident sent the money, but later discovered the person was not her son. The scam began at noon Thursday and lasted for about a day.

  • Laquell Jamesian Brown, 38, of Hinsdale, was cited about 11 p.m. Thursday at Colonial Gardens Apartments, 5500 S. Madison St., on a charge of criminal damage to property. According to a police report, Brown damaged a television valued at $300. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

DUI

  • Ismael Flores Saucedo, 34, of Chicago, was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Sept. 29 in the 500 block of North Elm Street on charges of DUI, transportation or possession of open alcohol by a driver, improper lane use and improper stopping on a roadway. He refused testing to determine his blood-alcohol content. A witness complained about Saucedo's driving. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

Bike theft

  • A bicycle valued at $200 was stolen between Sept. 24 and Sept. 27 in the 10 block of East Hinsdale Avenue. The bike was locked to a bench near the train depot.

Warrant

  • Michael A. Gallardo, 34, of Brookfield, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 27 on a DuPage County warrant. It did not involve local charges. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

Identity theft

  • A resident in the 800 block of South Elm Street told police that a credit card was opened using the resident's identity without authorization. The identity theft occurred Sept. 27 and was reported three days later.
  • A resident in the 700 block of West North Street reported that someone used the resident's identity to complete an application to buy a car at an Alabama dealership. The identity theft occurred Sept. 28.

Damage at pool

  • Someone broke the window of an excavator between Friday and Monday in the parking lot at the Hinsdale Pool, 500 W. Hinsdale Ave. The damage was estimated at $600.

Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
