Let's Hit the High Notes at the Clarendon Hills Park District
Group Piano Lessons for Children Begin in January
It's never too early to let a young child explore the wonderful world of music! The Clarendon Hills Park District will be hitting the "high notes" this winter with two popular group piano classes set to run on Wednesday afternoons at the Community Center, 315 E. Chicago Avenue. Popular instructor Gretchen Wells-Malitz will teach Group Piano for Little Hands between 3;15 p.m.-4:15 p.m., January 31-March 21. This class is designed for boys and girls ages 5-7 years of age and features lessons on rhythm, rotation, music symbols and beginner songs. The lessons are designed for children who have little or no prior experience with the world of music. Every student will receive a binder full of activities to take home. This class has a $150.00 resident ($188.00 non-resident) fee. Group Piano For Kids is designed for young musicians ages 7-11 years of age and will meet from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Community Center, January 31-March 21. There will be time to learn and prepare a new song each week, while learning more about music theory, fundamentals and proper playing technique. Fun games and activities are included in the lesson each week. The $157.00 resident fee ($195.00 non-resident) includes the Bastien Piano Basics/Primer Level Lesson Book. Advance registration is required. For information, please call the Clarendon Hills Park District at 630-323-2626.
