Lower Bond Denied For Ex-Hinsdale Priest Accused Again Of Abuse
Logistical concerns led a Missouri judge to make the decision.
ST. LOUIS, MO — A judge in St. Louis denied a request for a lower bail for Fred Lenczycki, now 74, who already served prison time for abusing young boys in Illinois, Missouri and California, the Daily Herald reports. Among the boys Lenczycki admitted to abusing during the 1980s were three while he was a priest at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Hinsdale.
Now, a St. Louis County Court was to hear testimony from two additional Missouri accusers. But the Herald reports that officials with the agency that monitors the former priest would not transport him from Illinois to court. In the 2000's, Lenczycki became the first priest in the United States to be labeled sexually violent.
Because of that, according to the Herald, a request from attorneys for Lenczycki for a lower bail was denied.
