Madison School (District 181) has been named one of the 50 Best American Public Elementary Schools by TheBestSchools.org. Schools were selected based on several weighted factors, including academic excellence, extra-curricular richness, geographical and demographical diversity, and reputation. “The schools on this list are not solely concerned with academics,” note the listing creators. “These schools also pay attention to variety, innovation, fun, and strong parental and community involvement. The schools in the ranking exemplify the best in elementary education.”
In a message to Madison School staff, Community Consolidated School District 181 Superintendent Dr. Don White remarked, “While continuous improvement is important, it is just as important that we take a moment and celebrate, especially when the results of the continuous improvement journey are recognized by others.” Dr. White went on to share his thanks to the teachers, staff, parents, and students for their hard work. “I know that the students are provided a very high-quality learning experience, and it is great to share that others outside of our district have also recognized the great work that is being done.”
Madison Parent-Teacher Organization Co-Presidents Mary Blue Henneman and Karin Rohn remark, “On behalf of the PTO, we offer our congratulations to Madison School - our students, our parents, our staff, and especially our principal, Mrs. McMahon. Over the last 23 years, Mrs. McMahon has put her heart and soul into Madison, so it is fitting that in her last year as principal before she retires, Madison is recognized as a Top 50 School. It is an honor and a privilege to be part of a school where parents, teachers, and the administration work to create an award-winning school for our community.”
McMahon notes, “The staff and I are extremely honored that Madison School was recognized as an exemplary place to learn. The collaboration of our parents with staff contributes to student success. We are committed to our students, passionate about teaching, and fortunate to have involved parents at home and in school. Learning together and working in a District among many dedicated colleagues is a factor of our success.”
