HINSDALE, IL – A resident of Toronto, Canada, who was staying with his family in Hinsdale for Thanksgiving needed money to go to a Chicago Blackhawks game, police said.

In the quest for cash, Jack Obrien Prince, 22, was accused of getting into a scuffle with a customer at a downtown Hinsdale bank.

About 9:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving, Prince was dropped off by an Uber driver at Chase Bank, 4 N. Washington St., police said.

Prince loudly knocked on the glass door of the vestibule for the ATM, according to a police report obtained through a public records request. Inside was a 67-year-old man, who told Prince he needed a card to swipe for access, police said.

When the man was leaving, Prince gained entry and struck the man twice in the biceps and kicked him in the buttocks, police said.

According to the report, Prince then ran to the man's car and punched his front passenger window, saying, "Do you want to die, m-----f-----?"

Prince then ran away, police said. The Uber driver backed up the man's account of what happened.

Officers found Prince hiding in shrubbery about a block away.

In an interview with police, Prince said he was visiting family in Hinsdale for Thanksgiving, arriving from Canada that day.

In the booking room, Prince tried to slide his right hand out of a handcuff, which was connected to a bench, police said. He then stood up and attempted to retrieve his phone and wallet from a desk.

An officer ordered Prince to sit down, but Prince refused, the report said.

When two officers tried to use a second handcuff on Prince to prevent his escape, Prince flexed his left arm and resisted the officers' efforts, police said.

Prince was charged with battery and resisting a police officer.

An officer contacted Prince's father to say that his son was being held on a $2,500 bond, with $250 needed for release.

Prince's father went to the station to pay the money.

During booking, Prince argued with officers and spit many times at the floor and walls, police said. The report said Prince also threatened to burn down the building.
