Man Tries to Grab Jogger's Buttocks, Girl Chased in Separate Suspicious Incidents

Hinsdale police don't know if the two recent incidents are related.

Update: July 17, 2015

Hinsdale Police Department investigators found the suspect in the July 14 incident involving the 14-year-old girl and determined no crime had taken place.

The second incident that happened on June 10 remains under investigation.

Hinsdale police are asking residents for information or security video that may shed light on two separate incidents of suspicious people approaching teenagers.

A 14-year-old girl told police she was chased by a man July 14 around 4:50 p.m. in the 300 block of West Second Street.

The girl said she was walking when she saw the driver of a black car driving slowly and staring at her, according to Hinsdale police. As she kept walking, the driver got out of his car and ran in her direction. She ran away, and the man did not make contact with her, police reported.

The man is described as white or Hispanic, about 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall with dark hair, a chunky build and wearing a gray shirt and shorts. His car might have been a Saab.

The second suspicious incident involved a 19-year-old woman who reported a man ran up behind her June 10 around 8:17 a.m. and tried to grab her buttocks while she was jogging near Third and Lincoln. The woman ran away, and the man didn’t make contact with her.

The man is described as Hispanic, mid-20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall with dark hair, wearing a gray T-shirt and khaki pants.

Police don’t know if these two incidents are related. Residents in the area with video surveillance footage are asked to contact the Investigations Division at (630) 789-7070.
