Men Charged In Hinsdale High-Speed Chase: Cops
A Chicago police helicopter joined the pursuit. The men were caught in Oak Lawn, police said.

HINSDALE, IL – Two Chicago men are accused of leading Hinsdale police on a high-speed chase early Friday morning.
The men were identified as Metrevell Hutchinson, 21, and Cobie Vaughn, 20.
About 1:30 a.m., a Hinsdale officer saw a 2022 Jeep Compass that was reported stolen in Glen Ellyn the day before, DuPage County prosecutors said in a news release. As the officer approached the Jeep, Vaughn entered the front passenger seat and then the driver, Hutchinson, headed off, police said.

The officer turned on his lights and siren. Instead of pulling over, Hutchinson sped over 70 mph in a 35 mph zone, prosecutors said.
Approaching Ogden Avenue and Interstate 294, the Jeep ran over spike strips that damaged the right front tire, but Hutchinson continued south on I-294, police said. A Chicago police helicopter began tracking the vehicle.

Hutchinson came to a stop in Oak Lawn about 1:45 a.m., prosecutors said. Both men were then arrested. They were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. Hutchinson was also charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding an officer.
The men were taken to the DuPage County Jail, with a judge setting their bond at $250,000, requiring 10 percent to be released.
"The epidemic these past several months of motorists fleeing from police shows no signs of slowing down," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in the news release. "This is very simple, if you hear sirens and see flashing lights behind you, pull over. I can’t be more clear – anyone who attempts to flee from police will be caught. We will use every tool available to us, including the use of a helicopter and assistance from neighboring agencies, as in this case, to apprehend those who think they can outrun the police."
