Necklace Snatched From Woman: Hinsdale Cops

HINSDALE, IL – A necklace was snatched from a woman Friday night in downtown Hinsdale, Hinsdale's police said.

Local police responded immediately and are investigating the incident, Village President Greg Hart said in an X post.

Police said the incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. near Washington Street and the railroad tracks.

The suspect approached the vitim from behind on the sidewalk, snatched the necklace from her neck and then ran away, police said.

No weapon was displayed or implied, police said. The victim was not reported as injured.

Police distributed images of a person of interest who they said was observed about 15 minutes before the incident and again shortly after fleeing.

"Hinsdale is consistently recognized as one of the safest communities in Illinois, but no community is entirely immune from crime," Hart said. "When incidents like this occur, they are taken seriously and met with a swift, thorough law enforcement response."

In a text message, Hart said such incidents are "very uncommon" in Hinsdale, so they understandably draw attention.
