District 181 said the search involved parents, faculty and administrators. Parents, faculty and staff were surveyed about the qualities they wanted in a new leader, according to a news release.

A small group of teachers, parents and administrators interviewed the candidates.

"I am eager to start the partnership with the community and District and look forward to the continued success of an already high achieving community," Burke said in a statement.
