No Growth In Hinsdale Virus Caseload
Clarendon Hills saw just one more case in the last week.
HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale saw no growth in coronavirus cases over the last week. As of Sunday, the number stood at 182, the same as a week ago. Last week's increase was one. For a time last month, Hinsdale number was driven by a severe outbreak at one of its nursing homes.
Meanwhile, neighboring Clarendon Hills saw its case number increase by one over the last week. Here is the growth in coronavirus case numbers in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills:

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 10.3 coronavirus cases per thousand people. That compares to 3.3 in Western Springs, 5.4 in Clarendon Hills, 5.6 in Elmhurst, 5.8 in Darien, 5.9 in La Grange Park, 8.6 in Burr Ridge, 9.1 in DuPage County, 12.1 in La Grange and 13.5 in suburban Cook County.
As of Friday, ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home had reported 168 coronavirus cases and 30 related deaths, according to the state Department of Public Health. That was an increase of one case and two deaths from a week earlier. Nursing home numbers include employees who may live in other towns.

While Hinsdale has a hospital in its boundaries — Amita Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale — that would not explain the village's caseload. Coronavirus patients are counted at the place of their residence, not at the hospital where they are admitted, according to the state.
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 132,543, up 4 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 6,308 state residents.
Nationally, 2.2 million people have caught the virus and 117,859 have died from it.
