Pedestrian In Critical Condition After Being Struck By Train

A pedestrian was struck by a train near the West Hinsdale stop on Tuesday afternoon.

HINSDALE, IL — A woman is in critical condition after being struck by a train near the West Hinsdale stop on the BNSF line on Tuesday afternoon. Hinsdale Police said the accident occurred around 5 p.m. and preliminary investigation points to it being an intentional act.

The 25-year-old woman is at a local hospital in critical condition, police said. The Daily Herald also reported that the woman was using a wheelchair when the accident occurred.

At first, all train traffic was halted, but the outbound trains are now operating about 30 minutes behind schedule. Inbound train movement was halted for event and eventually started again with delays. Many trains were also cancelled on Tuesday night, according to Metra.

The West Hinsdale stop is located at Hinsdale Avenue and Stough Street.
