Piano Lessons For Kids Offered Through Clarendon Hills Park District

Children who want to take piano lessons can do so through Clarendon Hills Park District classes.

CLARENDON HILLS, IL — This fall, the Clarendon Hills Park District will offer piano lessons for young children. The lessons will be taught by local musician and early childhood educator Gretchen Wells-Malitz. The park district said "Group Piano For Little Hands" will meet from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons at the Community Center, Sept. 20 to Nov. 8.

According to the park district, this class will offer instruction on basic music fundamentals: rhythm, notation, music symbols and beginner songs. At the end of class, children will have a binder full of songs to keep. The cost for a resident is $150, and $188 for non-resident.

"Group Piano for Kids" is designed for older children ages 7-11 years of age and will meet from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons at the Community Center, also from Sept. 20-Nov. 8. Music theory, proper playing technique and music fundamentals will be explored in this class, and a new song is introduced each week. This class has a $157 resident or $195 non-resident fee.
