Police Apprehend Man Wanted for Attempted Burglaries

Police requested the Elm School shelter-in-place Wednesday while officers searched for the man.

After a brief manhunt, Hinsdale and Burr Ridge police have taken into custody a man suspected of attempted burglaries around 59th and Madison.

Hinsdale police said in a Facebook post at 11:22 a.m. that they were searching for a white man with a shaved head and tattoos on his legs, wearing a black jacket, short pants.

A shelter in place at Elm School, recommended by police, has been lifted. Parents were notified of the situation by an email from Principal Jeana Considine.

A shelter in place directive means students say inside classrooms, and the school’s occupants don’t go outside. Elm School staff made preparations in case the shelter in place became a lockdown, which it did not in this situation.

Hinsdale police posted an update at 12:56 p.m. that they’d found the man they were looking for. The investigation is ongoing.
