Purse Theft, DUIs: Hinsdale Cops
A woman's purse was stolen while she was at the Hinsdale hospital, police said.
HINSDALE, IL — In the last few days, Hinsdale police handled cases involving a purse theft, DUI, jewelry theft, car burglary and a broken window. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:
Purse theft
- A purse was stolen Tuesday while a patient was at the Hinsdale hospital, 120 N. Oak St. The purse was valued at $90 and contained $21 in cash, eyeglasses, a driver's license and a credit card. No unauthorized charges were made on the credit card. The theft was reported Friday.

- Faisal Habeeb Malik, 43, of Westmont, was arrested about 6 p.m. Thursday in the 10 block of East Walnut Street on charges of DUI, possession of open alcohol by a driver, no valid driver's license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. According to a police report, he was found asleep in the driver's seat. Open cans of beer were found in the car. He submitted a blood and urine sample. He also was arrested on a warrant from Lake County, Indiana. He was taken to the jail in Lake County.
- Joseph Joyce, 30, of Lemont, was arrested about 1 a.m. Friday at 55th Street and Route 83 on charges of DUI, speeding, possession of open alcohol by a driver, improper lane use and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He refused to be tested to determine his blood-alcohol content. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Dannie M. Brownlee, 53, of Westchester, was arrested about 1 a.m. Saturday at Ogden Avenue and Wolf Road on charges of DUI, failure to signal when changing lanes, improper lane use, driving without a license plate light, speeding, and illegal stopping, standing or parking where prohibited. Testing indicated Brownlee was over the legal limit for alcohol. Brownlee was released and given a date to appear in court.
Jewelry theft
- Jewelry was stolen from a jewelry box in a bedroom closet between Dec. 16 and Dec. 20 in the 100 block of Ravine Road. The resident had a number of contractors in the house during the time of the theft. It was reported Friday.
Drug paraphernalia

- Edwin Solis, 33, of Chicago, was cited about 11 a.m. Wednesday at 55th Street and Garfield Avenue on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. According to a report, police were called about the well-being of a pedestrian, later identified as Solis, who appeared to be under the influence. Officers said he had a metal pipe that field-tested positive for cocaine and heroin. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
Broken window
- The rear driver's side window of a car was broken while it was parked in a parking lot between 4:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of West 59th Street. Nothing was missing from the car.
Car burglary
- A suspect entered unlocked cars parked in a driveway between 7 p.m. Thursday and 6 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of Wilson Lane. A wallet and $10 in cash were stolen.
Driving violations
- Mauricio Dominguez-Flores, 21, of Westmont, was cited about 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of South Madison Street on charges of no valid driver's license and disobeying a stop sign. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
Identity theft
- A resident in the 300 block of East Ninth Street told police Monday that someone opened two credit card accounts using the resident's identity.
