Purse Theft, Stolen Car: Hinsdale Cops

HINSDALE, IL – In the last few days, Hinsdale police handled cases involving theft, trespass to a vehicle, identity theft and a DUI. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:

Theft

  • A woman told police that her purse was stolen while she was visiting a patient about 5 p.m. Monday at the Hinsdale hospital, 120 N. Oak St. The case is pending.
  • A robotic lawnmower valued at $2,100 was stolen from a yard on Sunday or Monday in the 600 block of South Oak Street.

Trespass to vehicle

  • Gretchen R. Billups, 58, of Wheaton, was arrested about 8 p.m. May 2 in the 500 block of West Ogden Avenue on a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespass to a vehicle. She was stopped after a license plate inquiry alerted police that the vehicle was stolen in Glen Ellyn. It was a rental car and not returned. Billups was released and given a date to appear in court.

Identity theft

  • Someone accessed a Hinsdale village employee's email and changed the bank account information for the employee's direct deposit. It happened April 28 and was reported May 2.
  • Someone used the identity of a resident in the 900 block of South Quincy Street to obtain a car loan for $81,000. The crime was reported Monday.

DUI

  • Allen J. Olson, 44, of Berwyn, was arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of East Ogden Avenue on charges of DUI and speeding. He refused testing to determine his blood-alcohol content. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
