Gun shots were reportedly fired at a car following a road rage incident in Hinsdale on June 24.

HINSDALE, IL — Gun shots were reportedly fired at a car following a road rage incident in Hinsdale on June 24. The incident occurred Saturday at about 10 p.m. at 55th Street and Route 83.

The incident was reported on June 26 by an 18-year-old from Riverside, who said he was involved in a road rage incident with the driver of a dark green, late 1990s model Chevrolet Trailblazer, chief of police Kevin Simpson said.

The 18-year-old told police he was stopped at a red light on 55th and Route 83, when the driver of the Trailblazer rolled down his window. Someone in the teenager's black BMW rolled down the window, which had three passengers, and remarks were exchanged, Simpson said.

The driver of the Trailblazer then pulled out a black handgun and fired three shots at the front of the BMW, the 18-year-old told police. The Trailblazer then turned north onto Route 83 and drove away, Simpson said.

The description of the suspect was a male Hispanic, 20s, shoulder-length black hair and a goatee, with tattoos on his arm, Simpson said.

Immediately after the incident, the teenager checked his car for damage and saw nothing, so he chose not to report the gunshots to the police, Simpson said. However, on Monday, he noticed two bullet holes, one on the hood of his BMW and one on the quarter hood panel, and reported the incident to Hinsdale Police.

The 18-year-old driver and his passengers told police that there were other cars around when the incident happened. Simpson said the police are continuing the investigation, and if anyone witnessed this incident, to call police.
