Outdoor ice skating will be located at Hosek and Prospect Park Tennis Courts. The park district said to begin “making” ice, they need an extended forecast of sub 32 degree daily high temperatures and then 3-5 days are required to establish a solid base.
Once established, the quality and safety of the ice is determined by weather factors, patron use/abuse and/or maintenance issues. According to the park district, “OPEN” signs will be displayed and the entrance gate will be unlocked when ice rinks are deemed safe and useable. Lights are on a timed “ENERGY SAVER” system and are activated with the push of a button from dusk until 10:00 pm. Rinks are not monitored and parents are responsible for supervising their children while using the rinks. Please read the “To Use Lights” and “Caution and Warning” sign at each rink.
