Sports Classes For Kids Hosted At Clarendon Hills Park District

The Clarendon Hills Park District will kick off a new round of Saturday sports class for toddlers, preschoolers and children on Feb. 17.

CLARENDON HILLS, IL — The Clarendon Hills Park District will kick off a new round of Saturday sports class for toddlers, preschoolers and children up to the age of six on Saturday, Feb. 17, running through Saturday, March 17.

According to the park district, registration for all of these programs is currently available at the Clarendon Hills Park District Community Center, 315 E. Chicago Ave. These athletic activities are all taught by the team from "All Star Sports." All activities have a $48 resident ($60 non-resident) fee per class.

The park district said parent-tot Super Sports Junior will run from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and includes some time to learn about and play soccer, basketball, field hockey, t-ball, football and other popular sports. This program is open to children ages 2-3 years of age and a parent or caregiver. Soccer Jr. is a Saturday class for very young soccer players which will offer instruction on simple foot skills, dribbling, passing, shooting, basic rules and field techniques. Players ages 3-4 can get ready for the spring soccer season with a class which meets from 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., while older children ages 4-6 can join in the fun from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.. Soccer players should have shin guards, a soccer ball and a water bottle at all classes.

T-Ball Jr. is a class which will help very young baseball players get ready for the spring season. A class for children ages 3-4 years of age will meet from 12:30 p.m.-1:15 p.m., while older children ages 4-6 will join in the fun between 1:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.. There will be lessons on catching, throwing, fielding, base running and batting.

The park district said the final Saturday class available this winter is Basketball Junior, also designed for very young hoopsters ages 4-6. The basketball program will run from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. This program offers instruction on shooting, passing, hand-eye coordination, basic offense and defense, as well as good sportsmanship.
