Suspicious Drivers, Burglary: Hinsdale Cops

In two incidents, officers chased drivers speeding near car dealerships, police said.

HINSDALE, IL – In the last few days, Hinsdale police handled cases involving suspicious drivers, a car burglary, a warrant, a DUI, drug possession and damage. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:

Suspicious drivers

  • About 4 a.m. Thursday, an officer was patrolling in the area of car dealerships on Ogden Avenue because of an attempted burglary in another jurisdiction earlier in the night. He saw two suspect cars speeding west on Ogden. The officer chased the cars, but ended the pursuit in Westmont because of speed. A similar incident occurred about 3 a.m. the day before, when an officer was patrolling the same area for the same reason. A car was seen speeding by. Officers chased it north on Route 83, but ended the pursuit because of speed.
  • A resident told police that he saw a teen male get out of a black Honda, run up his driveway and enter the resident's car through an unlocked door. It happened about 11:30 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of South Bruner.

  • An unlocked car was burglarized Wednesday in the 800 block of South Vine. Prescription medication was stolen. The items were discarded down the block from the car.

Warrant

  • Andrew Woodard, 33, of Chicago, was arrested about 2 a.m. New Year's Eve near Route 83 and 55th Street on a warrant charging failure to appear in court for a case involving driving with a suspended license.

DUI

  • Junpeng Hao, 35, of Chicago, was arrested about 10 p.m. Dec. 26 near 55th Street and Route 83 on charges of DUI, driving too fast for conditions and failure to yield turning left. The arrest resulted from a crash.

Drug possession

  • Curtis J. Hernandez, 27, of Westmont, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Dec. 22 in the 600 block of West 55th Street on charges of possession of a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license. Police said they found a small amount of cocaine in Hernandez's car.

Damage

  • A resident in the 10 block of Camberley Court told police that someone damaged the side mirror of her car overnight Dec. 18.

Fleeing officer

  • John Ward, 53, of Lombard, was cited about 9 a.m. Dec. 21 near Ogden and Monroe on charges of fleeing an officer and driving with a revoked driver's license. An officer tried to stop Ward's car, but he sped away. He was contacted later in the morning and turned himself in.
