Trespassing, Car Burglary: Hinsdale Cops
A resident told police surveillance footage showed a stranger leaving his house.
HINSDALE, IL – In the last week, Hinsdale police have handled cases involving trespassing, a car burglary, a job scam, stolen Christmas decorations, a hit-and-run crash and DUIs. Here is information from the latest Hinsdale police reports:
Trespassing
- A resident in the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue told police that a stranger was seen on surveillance camera exiting the resident's house about 3 p.m. Friday. The man was described as white and wearing a black baseball cap, a blue jacket, gray sweatpants and gray shoes. Nothing was reported missing from the house, and nothing appeared to be ransacked.
Car burglary

- An unlocked car was burglarized shortly before midnight Thursday in the 500 block of North Vine Street. The interior was rummaged through.
Job scam
- A resident in the 1400 block of Burr Oak Court was contacted between Aug. 28 and Sept. 8 by a person posing as a job recruiter. The resident received a cashier’s check in the amount of $3,000 and was instructed to make payments of $2,900 using online banking. The resident learned the check was fraudulent after the online bank transactions were completed. The scam was reported Friday.
Decorations stolen

- Christmas decorations valued at $710 were stolen between midnight and 9 a.m. Sunday from a front lawn in the 300 block of North Adams Street. The victim’s neighbor also reported his decorations were stolen.
Hit-and-run crash
- A hit-and-run crash happened about 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the alleyway in the 100 block of South Washington Street. A car was hit while it was parked.
DUI
- Anthony M. Wilson, 56, of Willowbrook, was arrested about 4:30 a.m. Friday at Ninth Street and Garfield Avenue on charges of DUI (drugs) and illegal stopping, standing or parking where prohibited. According to a police report, Wilson’s car was parked facing oncoming traffic at the intersection. He refused to provide a blood or urine sample. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Diante Wiliams, 32, of Chicago, was arrested about 3 a.m. Saturday at Washington Street and Chicago Avenue on charges of DUI, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and improper parking. According to a police report, a witness reported seeing Williams asleep at the wheel. He submitted to testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
Warrant
- Isael J. Hernandez-Avelar, 22, of Glendale Heights, was arrested shortly before midnight Dec. 6 at 55th Street and County Line Road on a DuPage County warrant. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. He was stopped for a traffic violation, but was not charged.
- Laquell J. Brown, 38, of Hinsdale, was arrested about 11 a.m. Sunday in the 5500 block of South Madison Street on a DuPage County warrant. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
