Two Administrators Resign From District 181

Two administrators in District 181, Angela Stallion and Ken Surma, have announced their resignations.

CLARENDON HILLS, IL- Two administrators in District 181, Angela Stallion, principal of The Lane School, and Ken Surma, Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations, have announced their resignations.

According to a release from District 181, Stallion has accepted a position as principal of Ranch View Elementary in District 203 in Naperville starting July 1. Stallion has served as principal of The Lane since July 2015.

"I have truly enjoyed working with all of our students, teachers and staff, and families. This is an amazing community; The Lane School is a great place to come each and every day. The wonderful people I have met make this decision even harder," Stallion said in the release.

District 181 Superintendent Dr. Don White congratulated Stallion for her new position and thanked her for her service to the District.

Dr. White also shared best wishes to the District's Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations Ken Surma, whose resignation was also accepted by the Board of Education during their March 13 meeting.

Surma joined the district in July 2014 as the Assistant Superintendent of Information Services and Operations and moved to his current role in July 2015. Surma's resignation is also effective at the end of the current school year.

In regard to the vacancy of The Lane Principal position, Dr. White said he will keep parents and staff informed to the best of his ability.

Dr. White said he is meeting with The Lane staff and a group of parent leaders to share a timeline, noting that parents and staff are being included on the interview team. Interviews are slated for April, with the goal of recommending a final candidate to the board in May.

For the vacancy for the Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations position, Dr. White said that the Board of Education will be discussing the vacancy and no decisions have been made yet regarding the timeline for the process or whether a search firm will be used.
