U.S. Heroes Of Deerfield Hosts Pet Adoption Event

Pets for U.S. Heroes of Deerfield will hold a Veteran's Day adoption event with the Hinsdale Humane Society on Sunday, Nov. 11.

HINSDALE, IL — Pets for U.S. Heroes of Deerfield will hold a Veteran's Day adoption event with the Hinsdale Humane Society on Sunday, Nov. 11. According to a release Pets for U.S. Heroes is an organization devoted to facilitating the adoption of homeless animals to veterans, law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics and first responders.

“We are one of the first to host an event in Hinsdale Humane Society’s new facility and it feels like a great match since they’ll soon offer their Pet Therapy services for Veterans,” Paula Goldman, founder of Pets for U.S. Heroes, said in a release. “The goal of this event is to get some wonderful dogs into loving homes with heroes who will benefit from the support, companionship and therapeutic benefits provided by the adoption of homeless dogs and cats.”

The organization said it arranges adoptions by providing the following services:

  • Adoption facilitation and support
  • Connection to adoption resources
  • Initial routine veterinary services
  • Access to a 2-4 week training course
  • Ongoing, limited access to behaviorists and trainers
  • One-month supply of food
  • Collar, leash, toys and treats

According to the organization, Hinsdale Humane Society will provide free adoptions for qualified applicants in its Jake and Elinor Brickman Education Center within the Pet Rescue and Resource Center.
