Unlocked Car Burglaries, Dog Bite: Hinsdale Police
In one case, $700 to $800 in cash was stolen from a car, police said.
HINSDALE, IL — In recent days, Hinsdale police responded to a number of car burglaries and a dog bite, among other issues. Here is information from the latest reports:
Car burglaries and theft
- A car in the 100 block of South County Line Road was burglarized between 11 a.m. June 23 and 8:30 a.m. June 24. A handgun valued at $600 was stolen. Police did not say whether the car was locked.
- An unlocked car parked in a driveway in the 10 block of South Oak Street was burglarized about 1:30 a.m. June 24. About $700 to $800 and a garage door opener were stolen. At the same house, two unlocked cars in the garage were rummaged through and about $7 was stolen. The garage door opener was recovered in the parkway near Chicago Avenue and County Line Road.
- An unlocked car parked in a driveway in the 600 block of South Oak Street was burglarized overnight June 23. It was rummaged through, but nothing was reported missing.
- A car in the 300 block of East First Street was burglarized about 1:30 a.m. June 24. The car was rummaged through; a garage door opener was stolen.
- An unlocked 2005 Infiniti with its keys inside was stolen at 2 a.m. June 27 at Fuller's Service Center, 102 W. Chicago Ave. The car was found by the Wheaton Police Department later that day.
- An unlocked car parked in a driveway in the 400 block of West Hickory Street was burglarized overnight June 26. Stolen were a cooler valued at $100, a laptop valued at $100, a computer valued at $250, headphones valued at $80, two external hard drivers valued at $100 and a few other items.
- An unlocked car parked in a driveway in the 100 block of North Washington Street was burglarized between June 26 and June 28. A pair of sunglasses was stolen.

- A woman said she was bitten on the back of the leg while walking on the sidewalk about 7 p.m. June 22 in the 500 block of North Elm Street. The victim said the dog was on the leash, but pulled away from a child walking it. The dog's owner confirmed its rabies vaccination was current.
Damage
- A rear window of a car in the 400 block of West 58th Place was shattered between 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. June 25.
- Todor S. Gagarov, 45, of Hinsdale, was arrested June 28 on a charge of criminal damage to property. According to police, Gagarov cut a bicycle's lock and threw the bike into the dumpster. The victim retrieved the bike and reported damage to the handle grips, seat and frame. Gagarov was released and given a date to appear in court.
Theft

- An unlocked bicycle valued at $300 was taken from a bike rack between 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. June 25 near Garfield and Hinsdale avenues.
- A diamond ring valued at $1,600 went missing from a jewelry box between June 17 and June 23 in an apartment at 21 Spinning Wheel Road. The victim said she had caregivers in her apartment during the time in question.
Driving violations
- Luz Maria Rivera, 30, of Des Plaines, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. June 24 at Ogden Avenue and York Road on charges of DUI and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. According to police, she crashed into a traffic signal. She refused to take a blood-alcohol test. She was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Benjamin B. Begonia, 72, of Hinsdale, was cited about 3:30 p.m. June 29 at Garfield Avenue and 55th Street on a charge of driving with suspended license. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
- Robert C. Gianneschi, 43, of Willowbrook, was cited at 10 a.m. June 23 at Madison and 55th streets on charges of driving with a revoked license, operating of a vehicle while using a phone and unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
Other
- Christopher Lyn Arona, 34, of Griffith, Ind., was arrested about 7 p.m. June 25 in the 300 block of North Vine Street on charges of possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
