Upgrades Planned For 2 Hinsdale Streets

Village is delaying most road maintenance spending because of uncertain finances, officials said.

HINSDALE, IL — The village is delaying most of its $500,000 in road maintenance spending while it figures out its financial status in light of the pandemic, officials said Tuesday. But they mentioned two streets in line for improvements next year — Phillippa and Eighth streets.

"We're not quite sure where we stand financially, so we want to watch things very closely and not make any expenditure that don't have to," Village President Tom Cauley said at a Village Board meeting.

He said the village was aiming for street and curb improvements to Phillippa Street for next year's maintenance program. The village, he said, is looking at longer term drainage improvements for Phillippa, but it is asking the Illinois Tollway to help pay for an engineering study for that part of the project.
