Weapons Charge, DUI, Sign Thefts: Hinsdale Cops

Man with loaded gun under passenger seat is charged with unlawful use of a weapon, report says.

HINSDALE, IL — The Hinsdale Police Department released its latest blotter. Here is information from the reports:

Weapons charge

  • Daniel O. Soetan, 23, of Chicago, was arrested shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday in the 10 block of East Ogden on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, speeding, operating an uninsured vehicle and possession of open alcohol by a driver. Soetan had a loaded gun under a passenger seat in the car. An open bottle of alcohol was also found inside the car. Soetan was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

  • A political sign was stolen from a yard overnight Oct. 23 in the 400 block of East Seventh Street. Another political sign was stolen overnight Sunday in the 400 block of South County Line Road. The reports did not indicate the sign's messages.

Damage

  • A person told police Dec. 21 that a man opened his car door and smashed it into the person's car at the parking lot at 908 N. Elm St.
  • An employee at McDonald's, 935 N. York Road, told police that an orange Ford work van struck an overhanging structure in the drive-thru lane.

DUI

  • Robert McGlory, 57, of Chicago, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Saturday at Interstate 294 and 55th Street on charges of DUI and improper lane use. He submitted to testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. He was released and given a date to appear in court.

Driving violations

  • Robert E. Alexander, 34, of Stickney, was cited about 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of West Ogden Avenue on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding. He also had a Cook County arrest warrant. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
  • James M. Meyer, 35, of Hinsdale, was cited shortly after noon Sunday in the 100 block of West First Street on a charge of driving with a revoke license. He was released and given a date to appear in court.
