Westmont Carjacking Has Hinsdale Connection: Official
Village president describes "brazenness" of the crime at a grocery store.
HINSDALE, IL — A Hinsdale resident was the victim in a carjacking last Friday at a Westmont grocery store, a Hinsdale official said this week. According to Westmont police, two men, one of whom carried a gun, ordered the victim out of a car. It happened about 2 p.m. at Standard Market, 333 E. Ogden Ave., about a mile west of Hinsdale village limits, police said.
At this week's Village Board meeting, Village President Tom Cauley said the Hinsdale resident is fine, "but the brazenness of approaching somebody with guns in a crowded parking lot in the middle of the afternoon is concerning to all of us."
"We've had an increase in car thefts in Hinsdale," Cauley said. "Some of the car thefts that we have caught on video show that perpetrators have guns."
