Westmont Man Arrested After Gunshots Heard: Cops
Police said they found a handgun and shell casings in a neighborhood that includes Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
WESTMONT, IL – A Westmont man was arrested Tuesday night after officers received a report of possible gunshots, local police said.
Shortly after 10 p.m., police were dispatched to the 100 block of North Cass Avenue, where a man wearing dark clothing was seen running away, according to a police news release. He was spotted near Holy Trinity Catholic Church, police said.
Officers captured the man, identified as Daniel C. Mainz, 18, a short distance away.

Shell casings were found in the 100 block of North Cass, and a handgun was later recovered in the 10 block of East Dallas Street, police said.
Mainz was charged with a felony count of unlawful use of a weapon.

DuPage County prosecutors may add more charges once the investigation is completed, police said.
Officers from Clarendon Hills and Downers Grove helped Westmont in the response, police said.
