Woman Dies After Being Hit By Car In Hinsdale: Fire Dept.

The woman had to be extricated from underneath the car and she had suffered multi-system trauma, the fire department said.

HINSDALE, IL — A 71-year-old woman has died after being struck by a car on Tuesday, Nov. 20 in downtown Hinsdale. Hinsdale Fire Chief John Giannelli said the incident happened around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday in front of Karat Jewelry Group, at 9 E. First St.

Giannelli said the driver, an elderly woman, mistakenly jumped the curb and struck another woman walking by. The woman had to be extricated from underneath the car and she had suffered multi-system trauma.

She was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where she later died of her injuries.

The Tribune reported both the victim and the driver were Hinsdale residents. The street was closed during and after the rescue, and superficial damage was done to the building.
