Brad C. of Darien says, “I love them, they are accommodating when me & 20 of my friends descent on this place each year. Great indoor and outdoor seating (go out back for more seating in the garage). The key to great Guinness is a constantly flowing tap, this is an Irish pub that has it. Compared to the other 2 in the area, this one winds hands down. The only thing I am not thrilled with, and thus not a 5, was the corned beef sandwich, thought it was a little dry.”

Peter S. of Burr Ridge said “The menu has a lot of things you only see at an Irish bar like beef stew, shephard’s pie and corned beef and cabbage. We started with a couple of appetizers, both which were outstanding: fried green beans and corned beef bites.”

Ballydoyle Irish Pub & Restaurant, 5157 Main St., Downers Grove | 3.5 stars
Allan M. of Burr Ridge says, “The food is good and in a gorgeous bar area. However the reason to go is the music and if your particular you’ll want to check there web site to make sure you have the best chances of liking what you hear. They convert a section of the bar area to a stage. It’s not a great layout, however as a converted space it works well. If the music is to loud, head outside or ask to move to one of the rooms towards the back. I’ve seen several groups perform here, some were ok, some were great. Probably my favorite for just pure fun was the “Neverly Brothers”. Would define them as loosley a rock-a-billy group. Didn’t know what to expect but they have a lot of energy and fun and while they are playing a lot of the moldy oldies it’s just great fun!”
The Kerry Piper, 7900 Joliet Road, Willowbrook | 3.5 stars
Mark M. of Clarendon Hills says, “The Kerry Piper is a classic Irish Pub located in nearby Willowbrook. The Irish Pub Company of Dublin modeled the interior of this Burr Ridge restaurant after an Irish countryside cottage. Traditional Irish music is a hallmark of many meals, and a well equipped fireplace adds a cozy feel. Wednesdays are my favorite day since there is Pub Trivia. My choices are the excellent burgers on the menu.”
Rafferty’s Irish Pub, 10901 Joliet Road, Countryside | 3.5 stars
Stefanie A. of Chicago says, “Was in the area and stopped here for lunch. Looks like not much on the outside but don’t let looks deceive you- food is good. Not amazing but definitely good Irish bar food for the price. Our server was the only waitress in the place AND she was tending bar! She was great though- and mind you it was pretty crowded in there (Bears game). Crab cakes were delicious, and their chili is really good! I don’t however, recommend the reuben sandwich...corned beef was a bit dry and the sauerkraut was as well.”
