1 Person In Critical Condition After Fire In Lockport Township
The occupant of the home, an older adult, began having trouble breathing and collapsed at the scene, the fire district said.

LOCKPORT TOWNSHIP, IL — One person is in critical condition after a house fire in unincorporated Lockport Township on Tuesday, according to the Lockport Township Fire Protection District.
The fire district responded at 10:12 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a possible house fire on Fairmount Avenue in unincorporated Lockport Township.
Fire companies arrived to find a small, one-story home with heavy fire, the fire district said. The fire was brought under control in 10 minutes, but caused extensive damage to the home.

The occupant of the home, an older adult, was able to self-evacuate before the fire department arrived, but began having trouble breathing and collapsed at the scene, the fire district said. The victim was taken in critical condition to Silver Cross Hospital.
The fire was upgraded to a general alarm which brought in equipment from Homer, Northwest
Homer, and Plainfield Fire Districts to cover the Lockport stations while companies worked at
the fire, the district said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Lockport Fire Investigators, MABAS 19 Fire Investigators and the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office.
