16-Year-Old Accused Of Vandalism At Konow's Corn Maze: Sheriff

The teen stole and damaged a golf cart Sunday night from Konow's Corn Maze in Homer Glen, police said.

HOMER GLEN, IL — A 16-year-old boy from Lockport has been charged after a golf cart was stolen from Konow's Corn Maze in Homer Glen, the Will County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies were called to the corn maze and pumpkin patch, 16849 S. Cedar Road, at 9:30 p.m. Sunday about a stolen golf cart, according to the sheriff's office.

While deputies were headed to Konow's, they received information from Lockport police about a golf cart laying in the street, on its side, in the Victoria Crossing subdivision. The golf cart was damaged on the driver's side panels and the front seat bench, police said.

Deputies spoke to a supervisor at Konow's, who told them that some teenagers were riding a golf cart and tearing up the crops at the farm. The supervisor's employees were watching this happen live on a social media website, according to the sheriff's office.

The supervisor obtained copies of the video and shared it with police, the sheriff's office said. Deputies said they identified one of the teenagers and went to his home and spoke with him.

The 16-year-old was charged with theft and criminal damage to property, according to the sheriff's office. Estimated damage to the golf cart was $2,000, officials said, while the cost of damage to crops and other machinery was still being determined.

The sheriff's office continues to investigate the incident and expects additional offenders to be identified and charged, officials said.
