3 Arrested For DUI During St. Patrick's Enforcement In Lockport

During the special enforcement, there were three DUI arrests made and 23 seat belt citations.

LOCKPORT, IL —The Lockport Police Department conducted additional traffic enforcement for St. Patrick’s Day between March 14 and March 18. The department said the enforcement's purpose was reminding motorists to drive sober and buckle up as part of the Illinois Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement effort.

The Lockport Police Department joined the Illinois State Police and other local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce motor vehicle crashes, injuries and deaths by arresting impaired drivers and issuing seat belt and other vehicle code violations.

During the special enforcement, there were: three DUI arrests, 23 seat belt citations, one uninsured motorists, one speeding citation, one distracted driving and 17 other moving violations.

The department said driving drug or alcohol impaired is illegal and can result in a DUI. Additionally, all vehicle occupants, regardless of seating position, are required to wear properly adjusted seat belts.

“Our officers are committed year-round. If you drive impaired, you will be arrested,” police said.

The Click It or Ticket/Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement effort is funded with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
