6th grade workshop to tackle nuclear science

Register by Nov. 11

Sixth graders will investigate the world of atomic nucleus using models, Geiger counters and cloud chambers at an upcoming STEAM AHEAD WITH EXPLORERS after school workshop.

Led by David Kaskie from the American Nuclear Society, the two-day workshop will be held after school Dec. 1 and Dec. 15 at Hadley Middle School. The workshop is open to all Hadley sixth graders.

Participants will learn about the science of nuclear energy, answering such questions as “Why are some atoms radioactive,” “How can radiation be detected” and “How is nuclear energy used in everyday life.”

The deadline to register for the “Nuclear Science in Today’s World” workshop is Nov. 10. The cost to participate is $20. Please make checks payable to Homer School District 33C.
