8 Overdose Deaths In Less Than 24 Hours: Will County Coroner

The probable overdoses happened in Wilmington, New Lenox, Lockport and Joliet.

WILL COUNTY, IL — The Will County Coroner's Office has investigated eight probable overdose deaths in less than 24 hours on June 6 and June 7, according to a community safety alert.

Coroner Laurie Summers urged the community to be on alert, and to understand that there are likely street drugs that contain lethal doses of fentanyl.

The coroner's office said the overdoses occurred in Wilmington, New Lenox, Lockport and Joliet.

Through May 2, there were 47 confirmed overdose deaths this year, not including this week's eight likely overdoses, according to statistics shared by the Will County Coroner's Office. Of those 47 deaths, 41 have involved heroin/fentanyl.
